Deodorant is not a particularly interesting topic admittedly, it’s seen as one of those things everyone (well everyone should) uses and meh, who asks you what deodorant you’re using anyway? But, once you get in to the world of natural/organic/alternative deodorants you’ve got a ton to choose from; dusting powders, creams, rock crystals, so on and so forth.
Now I usually use a deodorant cream from Sure – boring but so effective but I do wonder if the cream texture blocks more pores. So I thought I’d try something a bit different and purchased one from Weleda. They’re sprayable deodorants don’t contain aluminium or synthetic ingredients.
There’s 3 scents at the time of writing; Citrus, Sage and Wild Rose. All three are up my street but I went for the wild card, Sage, as I like quite herbal and masculine scents. There’s 30ml travel size and 100ml which seemed to be much better value – you can always decant some into a travel sized bottle.
I like the packaging of this and also the initial scent which is indeed, herbal, slightly masculine, clean.
One thing to remember it that it contains alcohol. I am not a big one for using it on my skin generally, I find it a little drying and if you shave your pits or have sensitive skin, it could sting.
I used this for a week – now I have quite a tough long walk every day of the week (uphill, takes 2 hours, double buggy) so I am sweating by the end of it.
This deodorant did ok – I mean under the circumstance, that walk is equivalent to a work out so I am asking a lot of it. The sage is relatively strong, I can smell it on me for most of the day and when I have been sweating well…it’s not great. It smells sort of musty – it’s not yukky, but just not as fresh as I would like.
Here’s the other thing – I noticed a spot on my arm pit (it was quite painful) and I don’t usually get spots there. The only change was the deodorant so for reason, my skin must’ve reacted to it.
Unfortunately this didn’t work for me, I wouldn’t purchase it again. However, I’ve just noticed my cream deodorant contains Aluminium, so I won’t be using that either. I need natural deodorant recommendations if anyone has one?
I purchased this deodorant from Amazon.
