Mega Matte is a new lip release from Boots’ own beauty brand SEVENTEEN. There is a huge trend at the moment for matte lips of course, although everyone’s definition of matte seems to vary from brand to brand!
Mega Matte Lipstick promises to ‘glide on smoothly’ whilst being pigmented, totally matte and last for up to 13 hours. There are 12 shades to choose from and I have 5 of them here.
The packaging is a simple black lightweight case. I do love the look of mattes, but I hate a drying lipstick as my lips are already prone to chapping and if I wear the wrong product, they will flake for a week afterwards. That’s why I still wear creamy and glossy formulas these days to give my lips some moisture!
Mega Matte Lipsticks are one of the better matte lipsticks I have used. They have a decent amount of pigment and are really very matte (that powdery type finish you find with a true matte) with no sheen whatsoever, but also is not drying. All matte lipsticks in truth, are dry feeling, right? But some really suck the moisture out of your lips and this is not one of them, thankfully. They are quite smooth to swatch, not too much dragging like you get with the super mattes from MAC for example. The more you apply this, the smoother and softer it gets.
Here are the colours:
Lava You A Lot: Orange red.
Violet Summer: Violet Purple.
I Lilac You A Lot: Light lilac, whitish colour.
Nude News: Pale soft pink beige.
Looking Buff: Nude to mid toned rose pink.
The two nude shades are ones I would absolutely chuck in my make up bag any day. The lilac is not my thing HOWEVER, when I tested these I was surprised by how wearable (under the right circumstances) even the brighter shades are and I love that SEVENTEEN have catered for my bright lipstick loving friends!
Face swatches next – the reason my hair looks like that is because I had a conditioning treatment in 😀
Lava You A Lot – Summery, fun bright colour.
Violet Summer – a real purple, not unwearable I think despite being bright. Reminds me of the Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland offering:
I Lilac You A Lot – far far far more fun to wear than I imagined, although this clings a little as you can see on my lips:
Nude News – wearable, pretty, I like this:
Looking Buff – a MLBB shade, my favourite:
I haven’t filtered my face in this, if you are wondering what base I am wearing I quickly mixed up some Laneige Lumi Volume primer with Mii Mineral powder foundation and I was amazed by the glowy finish it gave!
All in all, I am really happy with these lipsticks and remember they cost less than £5 (at the time of writing they are £3.49 on offer) which is cheap compared to the price of other matte colours out there. It is a truly matte finish lippie too – so well worth checking out. Re: longevity – I can’t say it lasted 13 hours, more like 4 with a slightly stain left behind which is still impressive.
