Hello ladies! It has been a tricky time to blog with website woes and just general business but I have lots of things to write about!
So let’s start with some fancy skincare. I am a big fan of RMK all round – the cosmetics and the skincare items. Where I think RMK excels skincare wise is with it’s unusual one off type products you don’t find at any other brands. My current routine features a couple of RMK products (the lotion, eye balm, sunscreen etc) and now this; the Refreshing Gel.
Japanese brands have a habit of not being that explicit about what a product actually is in its name so I will have to tell you.
RMK’s Refreshing Gel is a night time treatment gel which deeply moisturises the skin, enhances firmness, adding radiance and on the counter they told me it’s good for refining pores. Think of it as a ‘sleeping mask’ (an explanation of what these are here). It contains all kinds of nice ingredients like Bilberry extract, Royal Jelly, Beta Carotene, Rosemary extract for firming etc.
I personally really like treatment masks – they really seem to give my skin a nice boost overnight when it’s feeling flaky and dry.
The other product from RMK which is comparable is the famous Recovery Gel which is just divine – the orange scented gel is also a night treatment that hydrates overnight. I was told that the main difference is that the Refreshing Gel helps tighten up the pores and make them look more refined, Recovery Gel is deeply hydrating and perhaps is more suited for the winter for replenishing the skin.
Anyway, the Refreshing Gel is a lovely loose light get texture with a soft fruity yoghurt scent. I spread this over my face at night – it’s a great lazy girl product as I am frequently exhausted at night, so if I can slap on one product to repair my skin in one step, then it is this. It sinks in fast (some sleeping masks leave a sticky residue on the pillow this doesn’t).
The most important thing is how my skin looks the next day – and it looks pretty good after using this. My pores look more refined, not shrunk but more refined, and I have a brighter look overall. I do look less tired! I would say though that I’d love if my skin felt even more hydrated in the morning – the current sunny weather really dries my skin out and I feel like i could afford to use something else with this, like maybe a drop or two of facial oil to give it a boost. I find that the Recovery Gel is more hydrating than the Refreshing Gel, but this one is more preferable for someone who has an oilier skin who perhaps suffers from dehydration too.
Currently this is the only sleeping mask type product I have in rotation and I am happy with it – it’s a no brainer product to use at night as I know I am guaranteed brighter skin the next morning. However I still adore the classic Recovery Gel which fixes up dry skin like no ones business! In an ideal would I would have a pot of both so I could use one on my cheeks and the other on my t-zone.
RMK Refreshing Gel is available for £35 on counters, Beauty Bay and Selfridges.
