I love my eyeliners – town between the choice of a new liner and eyeshadow, most of the time I’d go for a liner. I have tons and tons in my collections, most notably every colour of Urban Decay 24/7 (my favourite) and of Shu Uemura Drawing Crayons (nice pencils but don’t have the same longevity as UD 24/7), some Nars Pencils (love Kaliste, a teal and Kyoto, a tarnished khaki-gold so much but the other pencils are hard and scratchy to use) and them random bits of Aube, NYX, Bobbi Brown, MAC, RMK, GOSH etc. etc. etc.
But I digress.
I was excited to receive a package with several Pencil Me In Pencils.
The website says:
All of the shades were custom created to be unique and not replicate the ordinary shades in the market place. The pencil barrels are painted to exactly match the core color. “pencil me in” eye accent eyeliner pencils are considered the new “green” cosmetic because all shades contain anti-oxidants and vitamins which help to protect the eye area from daily exposure to destructive elements. “pencil me in” eye accent pencils keep their color true and last for hours. Every “pencil me in” eye accent pencil can be applied above and below your eye to achieve a natural or dramatic effect & to enhance both day and evening looks. Each eyeliner pencil shade provides long lasting consistent color. Layering and/or smudging the shades for a sexy finish is also recommended. The eyeliner pencil core is creamy but firm so the points don’t break easily. Application is silky smooth without pulling the delicate skin around your eyes. My exclusive formula includes natural ingredients and blended botanicals like Green Tea Leaf Extract, Pine Bark Extract, Grape Seed Extract, Lecithin, Shea Butter, Cacao Butter, Jojoba Oil, Wheat germ oil, and Safflower seed oil. It also includes Vitamins A (Retinyl Palmitate), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), C (Ascorbic Acid), Vitamin D, & E (Tocopherol). “pencil me in” eye accent pencils, the newest “green” cosmetic!
Did you get that? So this is a beexwax free pencil so its suitable for veggies and vegans. It’s a natural product and protect the eyes – you know I’ve been having all kinds of eye problems lately especially with bits of make up getting into my eye, so a plain cream base with a pop of liner is going to be my new everyday look. If this pencil is natural then all the better!
The pencil comes with a sharpener in the lid!!! I love that cos I hate carrying tons of rubbish around with me. Clinique have some lipliners in the lid too but theirs is slightly less genius, because it sticks out and takes up more space. The pencil comes sealed in a shrink wrap which seemed to take of a bit of the lettering of the pencil – not a big deal though.
I chose some colours that naturally caught my eye – you know I love my browns and greens. I chose:
Buff (light almost mint-white), Champagne Sparks (glittery peach), Metor (a light neutral taupe-brown, GORGEOUS), Silky Suede (a rich chocolate), Emerald City (a strong true leaf green), Liberty Green (a moss green), Denim (funky mid bottle blue), Lapis (matte dark blue-teal – similar to my Nars Kaliste) and Black Velvet (a metallic pewter grey).
I’m happy with all the colour choices! I really like buff – its the perfect colour for the inner rim of the eye, I like metor very much – it reminds me of Shu Uemura ME 945. I only got one sparks (champagne) but I wish I got more – they have a high amount of glitter and would be perfect for Christmas time. I would probably blend this in all over the eyelid for an all over shimmer. There isn’t a dud colour in the selection.
The texture is creamy and soft. No chalkiness. Doesn’t need too much warming up to get colour off either unlike my Shu and Nars.
I tested them all on the back of my hand and it left a slight stain after I washed it which UD 24/7 also does. I have naturally watery eyes which makes everything run eventually and this pencil lasted as long as my Nars and UD 24/7, about 5 hours.
The pencils cost $6.99 which is about £3.50 which would buy me a mocha with cream, so it really is cheap. It came in a week from the US.
A huge issues for me is if pencils will work on my waterline. I find that drier textured textures work best – like I mentioned before, I have watery eyes so pencils from MAC, Shu etc. are too waxy to leave a good amount of pigment on my waterline. Pencil me in Pencils need a bit of warming up (swipe it on the back of your hand a few times) then it comes off nicely on the waterline.
I do recommend these pencils a LOT. They are creamy, easy to use, a nice set of colours – for one £16 Nars pencil I can get 4 of these pencils and a cup of coffee.
