I like a new MAC lipstick now and then, and when a Limited Edition appears I try and get it rather than being fleeced on eBay in a years time when it’s no longer available. Although I am not really a Star Trek fan I thought the new collection looked cute enough to pick up a colour – I chose the most wearable which is ‘Where No Man Has Gone Before’ a pink with gold pearl.
This costs £17 so £1.50 more than a regular lipstick – presumably that’s how much is costs to put a sticker on the box.
This is very sheer, like a glossy formula with a sheen to it. I guess it is something a bit different to all the opaque, matte, heavy colours that are currently trending. I do like a glossy, watery shiny lip as it looks so healthy compared to a matte lip which sometimes makes me look like I am ready for an autopsy.
BUT. With it’s sheer prettiness (pink with gold pearl, what more could you want?!) I am disappointed with the total lack of pigment of this lipstick. It’s very sheer and it took a lot of layers to get the lip below. The gold is somewhat reflective but I wanted something more holo, seeing that it is a Star Trek lipstick. It could be MORE bold. Why not?!
Not too happy with this purchase but we can’t return cosmetics over here once used so…stuck with it. I wouldn’t say it’s totally useless it’s a natural look I guess it just isn’t worth £17, not by a long shot.
if you like lipsticks with no pigment.
