Having two small babies means that I am constantly being attacked by germy hands.
That means that wipes are essential as are anti-bacs for emergency cleaning (although it is not a replacment for hand washing!). I have a ton of Bath and Body works hand sanitisers which smell lovely but I don’t like to use them on the kids because they are so heavily scented. Also the inclusion of alcohol can dry out their delicate skin.
So Cuticura have a new sensitive range which kills 99.9% of bacterial but also contains aloe vera and chamomile. Also it does not contain alcohol which means it won’t sting them or dry out their skin.
From left to right: Cuticura Sensitive Anti Bacterial Hand Gel (£1.49), Anti Bacterial Hand Wipes (£1.29 for 12), Hand Foamer (£1.49) for 50ml – it’s very affordable and easy to buy in supermarkets and pharmacies. There is also the Total gel sanitiser which does contain alcohol but is clinically tested to kill more bacteria then the standard gel. Let’s have a look at the formulas…
So the Sensitive range does feel different to the regular gel types. The foam is light and takes a bit longer to rub in as does the sensitive gel – not ages but it has a more emollient feel to it, which makes it more hydrating that a regular sanitiser.
Naturally because it is alcohol free, it doesn’t have that immediate fast drying feeling but it’s fine by me – it’s far more gentle on the childrens hands and they seem to find the foam amusing! (of course use with supervision always).
The regular gel is how you expect with a sanitiser – it works fast. I actually really like this kind of gel with alcohol to clean small surfaces which have a build up bacteria such as my mousepad and keyboard, and my phone (it gets all the grease and stains off it). It’s good if you are out and about and need to quickly clean an area (ie. in baby change!).
So whilst yes, I like my fragranced hand sanitisers, these Cuticura ones are good workhorse sanitises for surfaces and delicate hands. They’re also cheap and easy to pick up!
