It’s difficult to know what to expect when a celebrity launches a beauty range; sometimes they’re just there for the endorsement, sometimes they handcraft the product themselves.
Humble Beauty was created by Kate Humble, presenter, author, environmentalist and farmer – she wanted to make a brand that was environmentally friendly and bio degradable, but also as lovely as any range you can buy. The range took 3 years to put together and the ingredients list is also good, without any parabens or SLS, ingredients I try to avoid whenever possible.
I have two of the products; Hand Wash and Hand Lotion, but you can also get Body Wash, Body Lotion, Hand Cream and Bath ‘Honey’ with is a bath time soak. There are two scents, Rose and Frankincense and Sweet Pea and Verbena.
My first thoughts when seeing this range was how luxurious it looks; it reminds me of Aesop, which is very much a premium brand with it’s dark bottles and simple labelling but at a lower price (from £8-£12).
I’ve been using both of these products, and I really like them both. No doubt they are quite luxurious for hand wash and hand lotion (seeing as I usually have £1 Cussons soap by the sink) but they have a really nice texture if that makes sense – the hand wash is not hugely foaming, and isn’t as drying as regular hand soap at all (I wash my hands all the time with 2 germy kids) so it’s nice to have something that keeps my hands soft and hydrated.
The hand lotion is also a nice light texture and nice to keep next to the wash – I am lazy with hand cream and I shouldn’t be since the hands give away the age! (so my mum tells me) so this one sinks in fast enough for it not to be a bother to use.
Can you see the lovely airy almost gel like texture of the hand wash!:
But we have to talk about the scent. I am a huge huge fan of Rose scents IF THEY ARE DONE RIGHT.
This Rose and Frankincense scent is one of the most gorgeous rose scents ever – it’s a grown up but not old fashioned rich warm rose with musk and a touch of spice from the Frankincense. There’s amber in there and lavender too (just a smidgen) but it is so lovely, I actually used it as a shower wash too because it’s just too nice to save as just a hand wash.
Verdict: Not your average hand wash! Could make a lovely Xmas present actually if they did a little gift box for it!
You can buy Humble Beauty or in Waitrose stores.
