So Nivea has come up with this rather innovative product for the lazy – a body moisturiser which can be applied IN THE SHOWER. I totally feel this because I find it rather annoying to get out of the shower, get completely dry then apply cream and wait for it to sink in. It takes too long.
This stuff however, is applied whilst still in the shower, then rinsed off.
This comes in two formulas for normal and dry skin – I have the dry skin one here.
First off this product has the classic Nivea scent which is ok, but it is a bit ye-olde fashioned. I wish it had a more zingy scent to it.
The product is quite runny and has a ‘slicky’ feel to it, just like a hair conditioner does. After I finished washing, I stepped out of the water to apply this which was very easy to do, then rinsed off (no waiting time is required).
My skin definitely felt softer afterwards although this was from the residue left on my skin which made me think – how is this any different to using a light oil to moisturise in the shower, really….
On the subject of this being the same texture has a hair conditioner, it definitely feels like one too – that’s what it feels like – like you a giant strand of hair and you are being conditioned afterwards.
Any hydrated feeling disappeared for me as the day went on and if I am honest I was a bit itchy on the arms after using this product. I wouldn’t be against using this on my legs though where it worked fine – I mean the motto of this product is, if I am being realistic, is, it’s better than using nothing.
It doesn’t take a genius to work out that there’s no deep moisturising going on here – the product is on for no time and then is rinsed off so it’s more of a ‘feeling’ softer, rather than working towards having supersoft skin for good.
Will I finish this bottle? SURE! Will I buy next time? Lazy me says, Go awwnnnn but sensible me says, since I moisturise in the shower with a body oil anyway, I am better of using that (bar the fact it makes the bath a neck breaking hazard zone).
