Whilst there are some Halloween looks you can sort of fake with a regular make up kit, there is quite often some special kit involved if you want to do a special look (i.e. a green fluffy monster?). Now, back in the day I had to haul myself to a strange little fancy dress shop to buy some weird old make up palette with weird colours in it – nothing wrong with that, it’s just a little inaccessible sometimes and now that I am putting make up on my kids faces’ I want to make sure everything is fresh.
So…did you know you can get your monster make up at a reasonable price at good old Superdrug?
Here are my top 10 picks (all affordable and also mostly on 3 for 2) which you can pick up just in time for Halloween!
An essential Halloween dress up item, this the right texture and colour without having to find some weird concoction from the kitchen.
This darkened grey and white is perfect for skeleton contouring or ghostly looks. Could be used for regular make up too (maybe not contour but eyeshadow!).
If you prefer all the products you need pre-picked for you (ie. if you have no time or little make up) you might want a look in a box. This Black Swan kit contains the foundation, eyeliner (gel and liquid for those dark eyes), eyeshadow and the liquid lipstick too.
Fancier than the earlier 2 colour ghost contour, the ghost stories kit contains 8 colours for more serious shading and looks. This one can definitely be used in day to day life too (eyeshadow or highlighter) but you can get really creative with this.
5. Press on black nails from (£6.75)
Jet black nails are great for halloween but I find that they are a pain to take off so these press on nails will give a super sleek finish and are easy to take off.
6. False Lashes – (£4.19)
Lashes are prefect for a halloween look, there are lots of styles from Superdrug to choose from.
Even if you aren’t doing a actual halloween look a dark matte lipstick is a nice way to look glamourous.
For a quick ghostly look use Ghost Whitener to make your complexion white with minimal blending skills.
9. Non Permanent (£6.99)
For a boost of colour in your hair without a wig choose a semi permanent hair colour in a bright colour like red, pink, purple etc or even rainbow.
When you are finally done you’ll need some good oily make up remover to take it all off. B’s make up remover is actually called ‘Stubborn make up remover’ and should take everything off gently.
