Essie recently released their ‘Rio Collection’ of course in celebration of the Olympics (have you been watching? I love it and I watch anything that’s on since I don’t usually watch sport at all!).
There are 7 new shades here, definitely something for everyone and I have my favourites too. I don’t have the hugest Essie collection but I do like their polishes very much and I find they don’t dry out my nails like other ones.
Here are the shades lined up, I’ve swatched each one. My eye in naturally drawn to brights and glitters but as I said before there is definitely something for everyone.
NOTE: I am no nail expert, as you can tell. I am actually a good person to test polish because if I can apply it, anyone can.
The 1000th shade and special colour (in that wonderful yellow gold) with the special applicator is called ‘Aim to Misbehave’. It has a nice sheen to it which makes it wearable (but I like brights!). I think it looks nice on my skintone but I appreciate yellow polish is not for everyone. It’s certainly relevant to the Olympics.
Bahama Mama is a burgundy red shade. Here I fail to see the direct connection to Rio – to me Rio is extremely bright, fun, carnival! But still, this is one many will like, I don’t personally wear deep reds on my nails often.
Aruba Blue is a deep shimmery royal blue which I really like and it sort of reminds me of tropical birds.
Sunday Funday is a creamy pink coral. This one I would wear any time, again I don’t feel the carnival, but it’s a pretty colour:
Jazzy Jubliant is a nice a clear polish with round silver and dark coloured glitters. Would work well as a top coat over something else as the glitters are quite “spread out” so to speak.
Pure Pearlfection is clear with a fine shimmery silver sparkle. This is pretty and wearable, an almost there polish for people who don’t want too much colour.
