My eyes lit up when I saw the new Essie Neon collection; I adore brights on the nails because I just think they’re a bit of fun.
The Essie neon collection consist of 4 bright shades that were inspired by the graffiti splashed walls of Miami. There is also a really interesting product, which is a 2 in 1 opaque white primer and base coat. The idea is that it will help the bright pop. It also comes in a cute gift box like this which I think would be a sweet present:
Here are the four shades:
462 – The Fuchsia of Art – magenta purple
463 – Off The Wall – Bright pink
464 – Gallery Gal – Coral Pink
465 – Mark on Miami – Vibrant Orange
461 – Pre and Pop Base Coat.
So let’s talk about the opaque white base coat. I found this to be quite thick, but it was indeed VERY opaque with a matte finish. I don’t know if I would normally go for a base coat as thick as this or indeed the blank white.
What I found interesting about these neons is that YES they are bright, but there is a sheerness to them. You need at least 2 coats to make the colours opaque and one coat is definitely not enough to cover that white base.
I loved the hot pink shade and the orange as they are the brightest – the most because it’s so bright. It’s a matte finish which is a bit different – I don’t mind it.
