Clio is a mid range Korean beauty brand which is definitely one to try; their products are generally very good quality for the price. The Lipnicure is one of their most well known products – it is a liquid lipstick/stain that is supposed to last 12 hours. It is similar to many liquid lipsticks on the Western market too, that dry down to a matte finish.
I have had a few Lipnicures for a little while but instantly disliked the drying texture (sorry). You need healthy smooth lips that don’t mind drying textures in order to wear it. You can buy the clear top coat to add moisture and shine but still I disliked the feel on my lips. So,when I saw the new Lipnicure Glass (I say new, I meaner to me) I had to buy one to try.
I am doing a review and comparison with two similar shades!
The Glass lip tint is called Love Hate and is a blue based bright pink.
The regular Lipnicure is (I think) 13 Toxic Pink which is also a cool hot pink.
Just a note – there is actually a proper system in place to use this tint, it is: Lip Balm, Lip Concealer, Tint, then top coat. I have all the recommended products and it just looked so sloppy on the lips so….yak.
The tints are are in little pots, and the brushes have a curve.
There is quite a clear difference in formal.
The regular one is like a thick cream that looks wet then dries down to a completely flat matte.
Glass is considerable shinier and looks and applies like a pigmented gloss. Pigmentation is rich with both formulas.
The selling point of this product is the longevity, and I can say that the original lasts well – it is that kind of formula that clings however I personally think it fades once you eat or drink quite badly in the centre of the lips, leaving that dreadful caked around the edges look. And with it being so drying its not nice to reapply.
The glass doesn’t last as long as the original but what it does do is leave a pretty stain on the lips after the gloss has faded which is quite a strong tint. It’s also nice to reapply (WITH A MIRROR) and doesn’t feel drying at all.
In fact – I am rather a fan of the glass tint! Much much much more recommended for drier lips.
Here are the two on my lips for comparison.
This is the original version:
You can see how matte the finish is, it is very unforgiving on dry lips.
The glass version:
Clio’s Lipnicure is a cult product but the original version does not feel comfortable to wear for me, at all because of my naturally dry lips. I can tolerate it and add lip balm if I really feel like it though. If you want a flat matte finish then this is the version for you.
The Glass version gives a shiny finish and leaves a strong stain – it is pretty on the lips are far more moisturising to wear so I throughly prefer it and will buy more shades in this formula even though it is not as long lasting as the original formula.
The shade range is decent, ranging from bolds like these pinks, to nudes and reds.
I buy mine from eBay for around £8 each.
