I like highlighter as much as anyone, but I do live in fear of over doing it (tin man) and there are times when I just can’t get the placement quite right. I do love the glowing look though much more so than matte.
I received this rather cool product, Dewy Stix from Ciate to try. This is quite different to anything else I have in my collection; it is a highlighter of sorts; it is completely devoid of shimmer or glitter, and it comes in stick form!
Of course this kind of wet sheer glow has been achieved for years by make up artists who use products like vaseline and gloss to achieve that effect. I love it but it’s highly impractical for every day life. I remember using Anna Sui’s eye gloss which looks hot but the creasing was…ewww. But of course, you can’t apply gloss to the eyes and not expect some creases.
So that is where Dewy Stix comes in. I love a gorgeous pearl in a highlighter but sometimes it CAN be too much. This glowing balm gives more of a natural, soft sheen – is she sweating – type look. I understand it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I quite like it. It’s more subtly sexy.
Also the stick is soft and easy to apply but over a minute or so it starts to dry down which is ESSENTIAL because no one wants a slick on their skin.
You can also use this alone, otherwise apply on top of foundation and you can set if you wish.
The sheen is infinitely nicer than just using a gloss or vaseline. It’s nice and thin whereas glosses are thick.
I’ve applied it under my brow and top of my cheeks here.
I am surprised about how much I do like this stick actually. However I would say that day to day my tinted moisturiser and no powder approach gives me enough glow to not use this, but there will be other instances where I will reach for this.
