I have only in recently times got in to doing my brows properly, because I’ve had fairly decent brows in terms of natural shape and density (so to speak) I have been lazy – but there’s no doubt I could definitely improve upon them.
So I have started to do filling on sparse spots and so on. I got the chance to try this odd looking invention from Billion Dollar Brows (£22), the Brow Buddy which is a light plastic contraption that you can use to help shape your eyebrows. You also get a white marking pencil in the kit (which er, isn’t that easy to get off) and I also tried the Universal Brow Pencil.
The Brow Buddy essentially works on facial symmetry. With it anyone can do 3 measurements in order to get the best brows for YOUR face shape.
Here is the kit. Instructions are clear or there is a You Tube video you can watch.
Here is the kit. I mentioned I had to rub to really get the white pencil off – it’s actually a really good pencil generally for using as an eyeliner because it’s super creamy, pigmented and hard to get off!
So basically, you use the Brow Buddy in three positions.
1. Closed again your nose – use the white pencil and mark this point as this is where your brows should start.
2. Open out so that the pink ‘legs’ pass the edges of your iris – mark this line on your brows as this is your arch.
3. Find the corner of your eye and mark this with your pencil – this is where your brows should end.
Marked out:
Afterwards you join the lines then tweeze everything on it. Thing is the guide doesn’t tell you how thick your white lines should be, so just do this to your own preference.
If you are a beginner this might be a good way to get started so you don’t tweeze too much hair but I actually couldn’t see my brows that I wanted to tweeze once the white pencil was drawn on. So I just used the marked lines as a guide more than anything.
The actual tool is clever although it feels somewhat light and flimsy – for the price of £22 it could’ve been a bit sturdier!
Now I will show you the finished look in a moment.
I also have the Universal Brow Pencil.
This is a retractable pencil with a brush on the end. You can apply more pressure for a deeper finish or a lighter hand for those with lighter brows naturally. It’s quite a good neutral cool tones brown shade for most brows. It is quite creamy and reminds me of an Eylure pencil I really like which I have to say is cheaper, but doesn’t have the brush.
Here is what my brows look like tweezed and with the pencil.
