This rather cute highlighter from Benefit landed on my doorstep (or floor…I don’t actually have a door step) a few weeks ago. My first thought was – CUTE!, followed by, What is it?, followed by, where did I put my phone?
Watt’s Up! is a highlighter stick, and the latest addition to the highlighter loving range of Benefit. Other highlighters in the range include the classic High Beam and Girl Meets Pearl (I have reviewed both but I swear, I can’t find my write up! Perhaps I just thought I reviewed them?).
Here is the Finding Mr Bright set anyway, which includes both of these items.
Here is Watt’s Up!:
I love the packaging! It’s like lightbulb packaging with the corrugated card an I love the blue and peach design. Benefit really do always get the design right.
Our soft focus highlighter turns on “watt” ya got with a delicate champagne glow that’s gorgeous. With a cream-to-powder finish…it’s a switch on “wow” for all complexions. You’ll adore the smooth applicator & luminous sheen.
This product is double sided and I thought that the highlighter came out of the sponge end but it doesn’t it’s a blending stick, kinda.
The product comes in this cute box and has a shape like…a torch? What is it?!
It’s quite a compact and handy size. You could chuck it into your bag, it’s not too cumbersome although I don’t know how useful a sponge blender is.
Here is the sponge side. It’s very springy and cold. I spent a while tapping it on my skin and it’s nice! I would be wary about using it too much as I can imagine product disappearing if you rub it too much with this absorbent sponge.
The highlighter comes in stick form.
I do prefer cream and liquid highlighters to powder, I just think they are more dewy. On the other hand, I dislike anything too oily.
Thinking about the other highlighters that Benefit have, high beam is the most liquid, has a pink tone gives me a very natural glowy look, Moon Beam of course is the same texture with a gold tone, Girl Meets Pearl is a bit thicker and pink but works really well on larger areas, and this…this is a stick. I guess it makes sense that they’d bring in a highlighter in this form.
I don’t like whitish highlighters! Too unnatural. This looks ok in the tube:
How it looks on the stick doesn’t do it justice.
When swatched, it is a absolutely beautiful golden peach highlighter. It’s a beaute. It has the right amount of pearl, no glitter, and is miles nicer than any Nars Multiple Highlighter shade I can think of.
It’s also got super soft texture and you can run it all over the skin that doesn’t pull or drag. This is a huge for me!
Now you can see on me with an olive tone the result is very natural. I imagine the peach is stronger on paler tones and more golden on darker skintones. I like it, it’s not garish on me.
I can be used on cheekbones, under the eyes, the usual places. I can’t smell any fragrance and no allergic reactions.
The only downside is, if you use too much it my look too ‘pearly’ and certainly too much on oily skin will look…oily. It’s not glitter, it’s pearl through and through and you need to take it easy even though it looks innocent enough in the stick!
Watt’s up costs or on Benefit counters. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s in line with the other highlighters from Benefit.
A nice golden peachy highlighter, also more versatile I think, than High Beam and Girl Meets Pearl.
