Being a mother of two delightful babies, I need coffee. Lots of. Frequently.
Because I drink coffee quite often (usually Decaf because I am nursing) I love to discover new flavours and types (whether it be from a supermarket or a machine coffee, ie. Nespresso). I was offered a selection of Beanies coffee to try so my response was to wave my hands in the air and say YEAH!
I have seen Beanies coffee before but had never tried it. Beanies has both ground coffee and instant coffee (I drink both types). The selection really is massive, do visit the site to see the full range which is too long to list here. There is also a lot of flexibility – for example with the ground coffee you can choose the weight (250g, 500g, 1kg) and the grind (whole bean, medium grind and espresso).
What really impressed me was the selection of decaf coffee – you can get a selection of the ground coffee flavours in decaf which isn’t common at all and excellent for me because I am still breastfeeding.
Instant coffee is also a lifesaver because I don’t have time to brew coffee every day. Once again there are lots of flavours decaf options in cute little jars. Despite being flavoured all of the coffees are SUGAR free which is a bonus because it would get rather fattening after a while.
So, my thoughts on the flavours (it is so so so so so hard to choose unless you’re the kind of person that always has a coke and hamburger at McDonalds. I like variety!).
Creamy Caramel Flavour – Sweetish smelling with a toffee like note. Nothing like a Starbucks caramel macchiato which is drowning in sugar – this is more subtle, think the flavour is brought out if you add some honey. Very nice.
Chocolate Hazelnut Cappuccino – Nutty, but subtle. Can barely pick out the chocolate, not sure why this is a cappuccino necessarily but it is quite mild. The more I drink it the more I like it’s subtle nuttiness but it is a hint of flavour.
Macadamia Nut – Oooh this smells amazing if you like nuts! Really rich and smells heavenly – obviously nutty tasting with that nice rounds macadamia has. Nice with a touch of milk. I like this but not for everyone I think because it is nutty with nothing else.
Instant coffee – Beanies Cinder Toffee – I LOVE cinder toffee so much. It’s addictive like cheese and onion crisps. This coffee is quite strong – I found both of the instants to be strong so just use a little unless you like quite a pungent coffee. Not a bad thing, it should last longer! Cinder Toffee tastes like a toffee to me perhaps with a tiny bit of a burnt edge which is the Cinder. Nice to drink would I have it all the time? Probably now and then.
Amaretto Almond – nutty and amaretto-y. Slightly boozy smell. Quite rich again not one I would have regularly as it’s a little pungent but nice for now and then.
Beanies coffee is a good prince, lots of flavours and a really decent cup of coffee as well as a big decaf selection. It reminds me a lot of Whittards, but cuter and more interesting flavours. What’s not to love!
