I remember when I tried my first IPL device, and since then, there are been a lot of progress in terms of the size, speed and general effectiveness of the devices. My first device had a huge base which didn’t seem like a huge problem but it definitely took up space and the cord attached was limiting. It also seemed to take forever to get my legs done because I had to wait between each flash for the system to recharge.
Braun Silk-Expert IPL Hair Removal Device is the latest home hair removal technology and has improved on all the previous models I have tried.
In as few as 4 treatments, this IPL device promises permanent visible hair removal. It essentially breaks the cycle of hair re-growth. This device has Sensoadapt technology which adjusts to various skinniness you have all over your body (we all have lighter and darker areas, right? Some areas see more sun for example).
In the first IPL I bought you had to constantly manually check the skintone for each area so that you didn’t accidentally burn yourself by having the setting to high – it was time consuming whereas you don’t have to worry about that with this device.
This device also recharges quickly, and has a ‘gliding mode’ which means you can move from patch to patch easily. Overall the device has 120,000 which is basically 6 years of full body treatments or 14 years on smaller areas…basically, you will have more than enough to treat yourself and probably your family and friends too!
You can see the size of the device – it’s like a remote control so very compact and travel friendly. So easy to transport! Seriously I used to have to carry my old IPL in a big bag.
Another thing is you don’t need the Gels, which older devices did require which was an extra faff.
There are no batteries required or charging stations – you just plug in the device to begin the treatment.
This comes with a Sonic Body Exfoliator which is a decent sized body scrubber – just like the Clarisonic but for the body. It’s really good for areas with a lot of dead skin; arms, knees, elbows etc.
A few important points – this can be used on light to medium skin tones (as of yet there’s still no IPL suitable for darker skin tones) and it is least effective for light blonde, red, grey and white hair. This is because the device works by sending like to the melanin in the hair to absorb – darker hair has more melanin.
The method is the same as with other IPLS:
1. Shave the areas you want to treat and dry the skin.
2. Put the nozzle in full with the skin. For larger areas using gliding mode. Use Gentle mode for sensitive skin.
That’s it! Treat once a week for the first 4-12 weeks then adjust according to regrowth.
I will use this on any areas I still have hairy bits (ahem) and also my aunt wants me to treat her super hair pits, so I shall do this also.
Buy this at for just under £300. I will be returning to discuss the results in 8-12 weeks!
