Happy Thursday y’all. How is your week going? My laptop died last week and I have spent a week trying to recover everything which was…not at stressful as I thought. Maybe because I wasn’t living through my laptop as much as I used it, I went with the flow. At least I got my most important documents back.
Today an unexpected wearable red. Unexpected as in, I had no expectations at all when this sample of arrived (in the shade, Sassy, a bold blue based red). This only comes in 4 shades but covers the basic needs of most women; a red, a nude, a pink and a plum.
Passion Matte is of course a matte formula with a suede soft finish and rich pigment. Mattes are so incredibly common now and it’s not that I don’t like a matte lip, but I find totally completely dead flat mattes a little harsh and drying. That doesn’t mean I never wear them but I can’t wear them all the time.
Passion Matte is what I call a ‘softer’ matte in that the overall finish is matte but there is a softness, a sheen to it so it doesn’t look harsh or drying. The texture is soft and it certainly is pigmented, and yet it isn’t overly creamy and it isn’t so opaque that it looks dramatic. It has just about enough everything. You know how sometimes you just need to give something 90% and not 100% because then it’s too much. It’s a bit like that. In fact this is what I put in the rare category of “wearable” red. It’s quite muted.
It can be applied then blotted. Or if you just apply a thin layer. The result is very very wearable – a red but not a screaming LOOK AT ME SHADE, but enough to brighten the face. I really like it and I can’t think of another red I have that is this wearable.
I am wearing the red below:
So, quite rare for me I have kept this red in my every day make up bag as I feel like I can blot this on whenever I want to give my face a quick brighten. I highly recommend this lipstick for anyone who wants a soft matte wearable muted blue based red. What a mouthful!
